Your God-given identity, which is in your born-again spirit, is something that you cannot lose. If something can be lost, then it is not your identity.
Too often we base our identity and self-worth on our:
- appearance
- talents and abilities
- smarts
- strength
- career success
But you can lose each one of these. Remember: if you can lose it, it is not your real identity.
Your God-given identity is based on who God says you are in the Bible, God’s spiritual mirror, and not based on your appearance, talents/abilities, smarts, strength, or successes.
I have observed professional athletes who, when they choose or are forced to retire, are lost. They do not know who they are any longer because their identity was wrapped up in something that can be lost – their talents, abilities, strength, career success – rather than possessing an identity in Christ.
As a Christian, you are who God says you are, and you cannot lose it! The caveat is that you must live out the Christian life and ensure that you maintain your identify in Christ. Just as Adam and Eve forfeited their intimate relationship with God, so can you. Don’t reject your great salvation.
You were created to wear the name that you have been given—a name that reflects your I AM-ness from your Creator. Rather than make a name for yourself, wear the name that you have been given.
I have called you by name; you are Mine! (Isa. 43:1)
I will give him . . . a new name . . . I will write on him the name of My God. (Rev. 2:17, 3:12)
Notice that God exclusively gets to name us, and not we ourselves or others (labels).
You not only bear God’s image but you know His voice. Learning to hear the voice of God is key to discovering your destiny and fulfilling your potential. Know your true identity. When you know who you are, it doesn’t matter who you are not. Don’t focus on what you aren’t; focus on what you are.
Is God’s voice the loudest voice in your life?
That’s the question.
If the answer is no, that’s the problem.
Chronic noise may be the greatest impediment to your spiritual growth. When your life gets loud, with noise filling every frequency, you lose your sense of being. And when your schedule gets busy, you lose your sense of balance.
Pursue the truth about you which originates from your born-again spirit (which has access to the mind of Christ), and not from your natural mind. God’s Word tells you what is true about your born-again spirit.
Let’s trade in your I AM imposter for your true I AM factor. Run toward your God-given destiny rather than away from it. Wear the name you have been given.
Reverse Engineering
God the Father has given us the name Christian, but the name Christian has many sides of our I AM-ness.
There is computer software available that enables you to connect a special camera to your computer and take pictures of a three-dimensional object with the purpose of recreating that object first on the computer screen and then in a 3D printer. This is called reverse engineering.
If you had a computer, an appropriate camera, and this reverse engineering software, and you wanted to recreate your favorite bottle of water, you could do so. You would set the bottle in front of the camera and take a picture of it, turn the bottle one degree and take a second picture, and repeat the process until you have a complete picture of the water bottle. The computer software generates a 3-D wire frame image from measurements, and the 3-D image is dimensioned. Finally, you would send the image to the 3D printer to recreate the water bottle out of a clear plastic. You could then pour your favorite beverage or water into the bottle and take a cold refreshing drink to test your re-created water bottle.
In the same way, if you could use a spiritual camera to take a complete picture of your born-again spirit found in the Word, you would see a complete profile of your born-again spirit. As you look into the spiritual mirror of God’s Word, you receive revelation of the “wire frame and measurements” to see a snapshot and reflection of what and who you are in Christ. One snapshot would show that you are righteous in your born-again spirit. Another snapshot would show that you are holy in your born-again spirit, and so on.
In cooperation with the Holy Spirit, you then begin to form, like a 3D printer, that Christ-image in your mind and heart. Each snapshot is a part of the complete profile of your I AM factor, which is how God the Father sees you and has re-created you. As a 3D printer, the Holy Spirit helps you produce and implant a complete masterpiece in our mind and heart—a replica of who you are in your born-again spirit.
Activating Prayer:
Lord, I believe and declare that as a Christian, you have given me a name that I cannot loose. In my heart, I choose to see myself as you have recreated me – as righteous, holy, perfect and complete. I choose to hear Your voice as the loudest voice in all the competing voices out there. In my born-again spirit, I look a lot like Jesus! You exclusively have the right to name me and you call me as your son – as one who is fearfully and wonderfully made, and as one crowned with honor and glory! I choose not to see my identity as something which can be lost and will pass away, but as a child of the most High God. In Jesus Name, Amen!
